John began coaching soccer in 1994 after graduating from Westminster College.  He holds a United States Soccer Federation National ‘D’ license and a Coerver Coaching Youth Diploma.  Over the years he has introduced soccer training at the pre-academy and academy levels and coached 11 v 11 soccer teams at the classic, middle school, junior high, high school, and regional levels of play. John’s focus has been to develop each player’s ability to take his or her game to the next level of competition. Through a focus on individual technical skills, players have been able to demonstrate confidence when in possession and increase their tactical understanding and execution.  John has been a scholastic staff coach with the Seneca Valley and Pine-Richland HS Boys’ soccer programs. As a club coach John began working with the Rogue soccer club in 2000 which over the last two decades has evolved many times into the current SCS United.  John left SCS in the fall of 2018 and joined the Northern Steel Select to work with the 2005G Fury and as a training liaison to BCSA.  Over his many years of coaching, John has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of players and many different coaches.  He uses these experiences to guide each player’s development to encourage a lifelong pursuit of soccer participation.

In addition to his coaching experiences, John has worked in education for 25 years. Utilizing his undergraduate degrees in mathematics and computer science, John has taught a variety of mathematics courses and supported the integration of technology into the classroom as a technology integration coach.  John has also used his graduate degree in educational leadership as an administrator in the Pine-Richland SD.  John is currently an 8th-grade mathematics teacher at Pine-Richland MS. He resides with his wife, Shannon, and four children, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Anna, and Jacob in Adam’s Township.
